Oklahoma day 13 / Roosevelt elementary school + Spooktacular (Daniel)

Today was the beginning of our last week here in beautiful Oklahoma. As usual it was hard getting up early after the weekend, but we pretty much were on time for the meeting of all the Germans at 8:40 am. Miss Hiller and Miss Grüner just reminded us to be at the German room again at 11:00 am and not later so that we would arrive on time at Roosevelt Elementary School in Norman, Oklahoma. From 9:00 to 11:00 the interview group prepared questions for the interviews in groups of four. We are going to ask some Americans some questions on their lifestyle and mentality. Thst also goes with the topic of the exchange: "Comparison of the lifestyles of Americans and Germans".
At 11:00 a.m. we were driven to Roosevelt Elementary School by some of the teachers of Norman North. We got a quick tour of the school building and the classes of the student counsellor before getting to the rooms of the four classes we were going to work with. We split into four groups, which were all going to one class each. The song group had prepared a German song last week, which they would then teach to the elementary school kids roday. It was Brother John. The kids easily learned the song, so afterwards we still had time to answer a lot of questions for them. Our teachers then told us we had some spare time, so we decided to play soccer with some of the kids outside. Some of the German boys played against a ton of American kids. We scored first, but it is hard keeping the ball when those inexhaustible kids gather around you permanently, so the kids scored and it was even again. We had some pretty good chances, but in the end it was a tie: 1:1.
After that we drove back to Norman North again, had lunch and headed to our lessons.
In the evening, we went to the Spooktacular at Norman North. We decorated the German room and the room next door and put candy into bowls. At 6:30 pm, the event began and lots of kids trick or treated at Norman North and in our room. They were all dressed as famous superheros or film characters, some even as animals or zumo wrestlers. We definitely ran out of candy quickly that night. At 8 pm the event was over and we had to clean up and rearrange the classrooms. Then some of us went straight home, and some ate at Freddy's. And so the day was over, and we are looking forward to tomorrow.
